Profiles: Connect: questions on character limits and Gizmo

/htdocs/manage/profile/index.bml seems to have arbitrary character limits for some of the external usernames you can have in the 'Connect' section of the profile.

Skype, Delicious and Twitter have 40 but usernames can't be over 32, 32 and 15 characters respectively.

Last.fm has 255 but it's actually 15 for usernames and 60 for groups.

Is there a reason for this?

Also, Gizmo is now Gizmo5, which is no longer supported. Should it be kept anyway?

Offhand, I'd say Gizmo should either be removed or be upgraded to a more recent version if there's one - which should happens should probably be discussed in suggestions or maybe dw_biz.

No clue about the other questions. What's the bug URL?

Upgraded? I'm not sure what you mean by that. Are you thinking of the Gizmo binaries in LJ's "ljcom" repository?

No, I'm referring (as I think ninetydegrees was) to the version supported in profiles. (And if upgrading that's not feasible for any reason, then removing it should still get discussed in dw_suggestions or dw_biz IMO.)

According to the info I'm finding, Gizmo is discontinued now. I suppose we should yoink it completely.

The skype/delicious/twitter ones have extra room in case characters != bytes, I think. no clue about last.fm.

I bet the last.fm one is just because the database field could (technically) hold up to 255 characters.
