Some babydev bugs for the New Year

So, I'm trying to do more patching of little bugs lately, but I figured I should throw some out onto the waters instead of hogging them all. So, if you are looking for some easier bugs to do, these might fit the profile, and I can mentor you on any of them if you need it.

At some point I wanted to solve http://bugs.dwscoalition.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2180 but I don't really understand how the translation system works (or why it doesn't work in this case) so any clue would be great.

If I remember correctly, basically what that means is even though the code behind it got changed, it was already loaded into the system, and the system doesn't overwrite existing translation strings. I poked denise into changing it on the site's translation interface--sorry if that stole it, but it was something easier to fix there than in the code. Now, if you wanted to fix it in the code, you could, but it's kinda crufty: you have to change the name of the translation string in the translation file and where it gets used. Usually people add a "2" on, or something. (If you see translation string names with 2 on the end, now you know why.)

I added the one you suggested, and I'll see about looking into whether or not the thing listed could be done simply with S2! (I'll have to look at the existing built in S2 functions, methinks.)

Don't be sorry. I am because I'm not sure I understood a word of what you said. The first part anyway. As for the second part, does it mean that, in #2192, to fix one of the issue, you'd have to change/create .opt.edit2? I'm asking because http://dw-dev-training.dreamwidth.org/13233.html and http://dw-dev-training.dreamwidth.org/13233.html?thread=88497&style=mine#cmt88497 were pretty confusing. It seemed to me the entry said one thing and the comment the opposite and I'm lost.

Sorry I lost track of commenting on this one!

But yeah, you're right--in order to fix the issue they talked about in code, you'd have to change .opt.edit to .opt.edit2. But instead of that, I just poked somebody with site copy access, because the code had already been committed. I guess it's up in the air which direction you choose--generally it's easier for a coder person to just change the translation string name, though. But maybe if something is trivial, or already changed in the code but not on the site, contact site copy instead?

You've lost me again. I don't know what or who site copy is and what their job is and isn't. I guess I'll just stop wondering about those bugs from then on since it's obviously something well above my baby's heads. Thanks for taking the time to answer, though.
