They're exactly the same thing (one is an alias for the other), and both are used in different parts of the code, depending on who wrote it. So, use whichever one you want...it's totally up to you. :)

I prefer is_person and is_community.
We should probably open a bug and consolidate them to one method...

I prefer is_personal, myself. After all, OpenID users are people too! ;)
The difference between is_person and is_individual would come down to semantics.
